      Insurance Claims Advice

If you need to make a claim on your insurance policy, these tips may help you to get started:

      • If you are the victim of a crime, contact the police immediately and follow their advice in the first instance.
      • Gather as much information as possible. For example, in a motor claim, take photos of the event and the contact details of anyone else involved.
      • Check your insurance policy document. This will ensure you know who to contact and which information to collate.
      • Do not admit liability if there are third parties involved.
      • Be honest with your insurer. If they have all of the relevant information it will be an easier process.
      • Keep your own notes throughout the process, so you know who you’ve spoken to and how things are progressing.

      Insurance Claim Process

Although every claim is different, our claims process tends to include the following steps:

      1. Get in touch with us: Your first port of call is our helpful and knowledgeable Claims Team. We’ll ask you for details on what has happened and we’ll give you some guidance on what information and documents you may need to provide.
      2. We’ll contact your insurer: Once you’ve been in touch with us, we can get the ball rolling for you. We’ll call your insurer and pass on the details you provided so they can begin the claims process at their end.
      3. Your insurer carries out a review: Your insurer will review the information you have provided to us. We will stay in touch during this stage, and can give you ongoing guidance and updates. We can also intercede on your behalf if necessary.
      4. Decision: Your insurer will decide how the claim is to be processed and what pay out you may receive before arranging any payment and closing the claim. If you want to discuss this decision at all, we’ll be happy to talk it through with you.
